I love my parallel clamps, but let’s be honest, they’re not perfect. The hard plastic clamp heads can cause a couple of issues that have always driven me a little crazy.
First, dents. When you apply pressure, especially if the clamp head isn’t perfectly seated or you’re working with softer woods, those rigid plastic faces can leave unwanted marks on your work.
Second, grip. The smooth plastic heads have almost zero traction. If you’re clamping across a large panel or assembly, it can be frustrating to get the far jaw to stay put long enough to engage the screw side and start tightening.
